2010 Holiday Giving
Employees of Thompson
Hamel LLC, and Robert Thompson E.A., of Presque Isle, chose to support Halfway Home Pet Rescue during the holiday season. Employees donated needed pet supplies to the shelter as well as contributing over $400 to be used toward the shelter's vet bills and our new building fund. In addition, Brandon Thompson, son of 'Jay' Thompson, grandson of Arthur and Marilyn Thompson, donated $50 of his Christmas money to help the animals. In photo from left: Sharon Watson with feline kitten Hope, Norma Milton with feline Donna and Robyn Smith with feline kitten Dawn. All of the animals pictured have been adopted.
Memorial Programs Established 2010
Although there were many blessing for Halfway Home Pet Rescue, Inc., a 501c3 charitable animal shelter, this past year, President Norma Milton reflects that they lost two very dedicated and loved supporters of the animal welfare organization – Clarissa T. Bickford of Etna, ME and Marie Joyce Allen of Caribou. “There are a few people who you just cannot replace in their work, commitment and love for animals. When you lose this person, you mourn with their family and when the family continues to support the shelter work and reflects that lost love, you want to commemorate their continued work in memory of that cherished animal lover and volunteer.” Read more about these programs and other memorials.

More about Sharon here.
I would like to welcome Julie Damboise of Connor and Gerald Nelson of Stockholm to the 2010 Halfway Home Pet Rescue. Julie will be coming in for Ritchie Nadeau of Connor as his year ends and Gerald is coming in for Cheryl Kelley of St. Francis as her year ends.
Julie has helped with the pet food pantry for the past year, with all fundraisers and has been a successful foster family for dozens of tiny kittens. She is a dedicated worker, always willing to go an extra mile to save a life, but she also has an understanding of when tough decisions need to be made. Julie also has a family committment to quality animal care and it is my pleasure to welcome her to the board.
Jerry has been an active supporter of the pet food pantry for the past year. Helping with delivery, sorting and distribution. His basic answer whenever I have called for help is a simple "No problem." You can't beat that. Previously, Jerry volunteered on many issues concerning fundraising for Caribou Pet Rescue and in the winter of 2004-2005, Jerry worked diligently with the effort to rescue over 30 feral cats at Madawask Lake. He has an understanding of our need for volunteers and doesn't hesitate to pitch in.
